Plate Away is a design project conducted in collaboration with the Red Cross Second Hand in Växjö. The proposal is a system where Röda Korset together with local restaurants can contribute to a more holistic and sustainable food industry by reusing discarded and unsellable plates from the secondhand business. By putting two plates together and wrapping them in a kitchen towel, they are being transformed into a container fully capable of transporting warm solid food. Plate Away offers an alternative founded in circular economy that potentially could replace the linear waste-generative economy that is prevalent today.
